Connection problems

 Problem

Comment

 1. All I see is a "0" on the page when I connect to the online catalog . Some users of the Symantec (Norton) Internet Security 2003  Package experience this problem.   Contact Symantec for advice at: http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/support_options.html  or try another security product.

Timeout problems

 Problem

Comment

 1. The online catalog timeout is too short. The standard timeout is just over 9 minutes.  This is the length recommended by the software vendor.
 2. The online catalog timeout is very short--30 seconds or less. This often occurs with the AOL  web browser.  Change to another browser--for example, Internet Explorer or Firefox.

This also may occur if you have Google Web Accelerator installed on your PC.  For information on how to turn off Google Web Accelerator without uninstalling it, go to this web site: http://webaccelerator.google.com/support.html

 1. I fill out the request form in the online catalog and click the submit button, but nothing happens. JavaScript must be turned on in your browser in order for the request form to work.  Contact the CITES Help Desk at consult@uiuc.edu or 244-7000 for assistance with JavaScript.

2.  I can't print from the "My Account" screen. Try a newer version of your web browser.  Internet Explorer 5.0 or newer.  Netscape 6.23 or newe

Comment

 1. I  have problems with color contrast and/or background color on the online catalog screens. Try a newer version of your web browser.  Internet Explorer 5.0 or newer.  Netscape 6.23 or newer.
 3.  Diacritics do not display correctly in records for Cyrillic language materials.  Diacritic characters are replaced by small square boxes. In some cases, records for Cyrillic language materials will not print correctly, with some of the data appearing on the printed page as a meaningless string of text characters. This problem occurs when using Internet Explorer as your browser.  Diacritics display and print correctly when you use the Firefox web browser.  For assistance in obtaining and installing Firefox, contact the CITES Help Desk at consult@uiuc.edu or 244-7000.
