Learning Commons

The Learning Commons initiative is building upon the success the Undergraduate Library has had over the past 40 years as the central hub of undergraduate research and learning on the University of Illinois campus. The Commons encourages engagement with information in its various forms, reinforces the value of collaborative inquiry, creates new opportunities for community interaction, and supports students to adjust to and succeed at the University of Illinois .

New Look!

We have undergone some physical changes in order to provide greater access to our collections and created multiple types of learning environments to fit the growing and diverse needs of our patrons.

In addition, we have added, and continue to purchase, technological resources available for both in-library and take home use.

The Learning Commons is funded through a collaboration by the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics (DIA), University Library, and CITES.

Future Plans!

Browsing and Gaming Area

To be located in the former Media/Reserves desk area on the north side of the upper-level, this space will be housed with comfortable furniture, current periodicals, gaming stations and informal gathering spaces.
