Main stacks access for undergrads
As an Undergraduate Student, you CAN go into the Main Stacks of the Main Library building, next door to the Undergrad Library. Here's a list of who can do it:
- All Undergraduate students can request access to the bookstacks at the Circulation Desk (2nd Floor Main Library).
- Undergraduate student members of the UIUC Library Friends upon presentation of their Library Friends membership card and a valid UIUC I-Card.
- Members of the following clubs and
organizations whose names are submitted in writing to the Circulation Librarian:
- BA/MBA Program
- Chancellor's Scholars (also known as Campus Honors Program)
- Cohn Scholars
- Debate (Speech) Team
- James Scholars
- LAS Individual Plans of Study
- Minority Association of Future Attorneys (MAFA)
- Pre-Law Club
- Psychology Honor Students
NOTE: Access to the Bookstacks is NOT automatically guaranteed to all University-sponsored clubs. A written request explaining the needs of the group for Bookstacks must be submitted to the Circulation Librarian for approval.
- Undergraduate students whose professor requests Bookstacks access for all students enrolled in a class he/she is teaching.
- Undergraduate student employees of the UIUC Library
