News:

  • CNN Video (http://www.cnn.com/video/)
    Allows users to watch free video news on recent and breaking news from around the world.
  • BBC Audio & Video (http://news.bbc.co.uk/)
    Allows users to watch or listen to the latest news from around the world. It can be accessed by clicking on Latest News in Video and Audio from the top right hand side.
  • MSNBC Video (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8004316/)
    Features videos on developing stories from around the world.
  • PBS - Public Broadcast Station network, which is a publicly-funded source of news to the general U.S. public. NewsHour (http://www.pbs.org/newshour/video/)
    Link to today's news stories or search for topics of past news.

    FRONTLINE (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/view/)
    Link to an archive of select Frontline's broadcast documentaries spanning the past few years.
  • Reuters (http://today.reuters.com)
    Provides videos of latest news from around the world.
  • Independent Media (http://video.indymedia.org/en)
    Provides access links to Independent Media centers around the globe. This site also has a section for Video Projects as well as a menu of downloadable Video Software, which provide access to various video sites. This site can be good if you wish to find video in other languages in addition to English.
  • Associate Press (http://www.ap.org)
    Go to the source of many video news clips used by news channels all over. Click on the link for 'video' to find news clips on various topics ranging from World to Business to Science & Technology.

Music Videos:

  • Yahoo Music Videos (http://music.yahoo.com/musicvideos)
    You will need to have a Yahoo account to watch entire videos. You have huge selection of music videos to choose, only you'll have to watch a commercial before it begins.
  • MTV Music Videos (http://www.mtv.com/music/video/#/music/video)
    Search for your favorite artist or music video, however, the search results pull up 'all' that's in their database regarding that input. Be sure to click 'video' after pulling up your search results. Will play a short MTV ad before the video.

History:

  • National Video Archives of the United States (http://video.google.com/nara.html)
    Historical videos covering NASA space flight, the United Newsreel from 1942-1945, and the Department of the Interior.
  • American Memory Project (http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/browse/index.html)
    Provide by the Library of Congress, this project provides access to historical materials that document the American experience. To view the video collections select Motion Pictures in the Browse Collections Containing section.
  • Internet Archive (http://www.archive.org/details/movies)
    Hosts an amazing number of moving images from topics ranging from 'Animation & Cartoons' to 'Youth Media'. A bonus to this video archive is the ability to watch entire feature film classics. Videos are available to view by streaming or by download.
