    This is the official site of the university and has links to the library catalog and to a telephone directory for Belarus as well as to a wide range of information on the university.  The page is in Russian.

  • The Academy of Sciences of Belarus

    This is a link to the home page for the Belarusian Academy of Sciences.  The site is in English, Russian and Belarusian.  There are a large number of links to useful sites including the Academy's library catalog, museums in Belarus, libraries in the region and many other very useful sites.  The links are all listed in English, but there are no annotations included.

    This site is maintained by a librarian at Simmons University who was born and educated in Belarus.  She has links to major sites of museums in Belarus.  There is a great deal of other general information on this page that is of interest.

    Government and Law

  • Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus

    This is a link from the WWW Belarus site.  The site is in English. This page has information and links to information on the status of the constitution. It has not been updated. As of this viewing, 4/29/02, it still has only two links to activities in the constitutional court. The full text of the constitution is available, but only in Russian.  The site is primarily for business people interested in the region.

    This site is in English and Russian. It provides basic information on the activities of the Belarusian president in Belarusian and English. Many of the linking pages are available in Russian only. The full text of the final draft of the Constitution is available at this site.

  • Legislation from Belarus

    In English. On WWW Belarus site.  It contains a collection of laws, selected for businessmen and a great deal of useful legal information.

  • Council of Ministers

    This is the official site of the Government of Belarus. It has information on the various ministries and news on current activities.  It is in English and Russian.


  • Belarus National Center of Legal Information

    The NCPI or NCLI, features a full text searchable database containing 25,000 legal acts issued by the President, Parliament, Government, National Bank, ministries, Constitutional Court, Supreme Court, Supreme Economic Court, and international treaties.  The site also includes the National Register of Legal Acts and legislative news. In Russian and English.

    From this site you can generate a list of newspapers and journals available online by going to the media section.  The page is in Belarusian and English.  All titles have brief annotations.

    This is an unannotated list of Belarusian sites on the media.  The site is divided into categories such as newspapers, magazines, radio, and television.

  • Agapov

    This is a good Belarusian subject directory with a lengthy list of search engines.  To access that list, click on "Internet">"Poisk/Katalogi/Reitingi.  There are brief descriptions of each search engine and the language of the engine.  The site is in Russian.


  • Poisk

    This is a relatively new search engine that has some subject access.  The list of search engines can be accessed by looking through the topic list on the right hand side of the screen under the heading "Populiarnye razdely i zaprosy".  The list is organized into type of search engine: search engines, catalogs and subject lists.  The entries are annotated with brief, clear descriptions of each engine.  The site is in Russian.
