Requesting dissertations through Interlibrary Loan

If you have tried the methods outlined in our Finding Dissertations guide and have been unable to locate the full text (in print or online) of a dissertation, you can request it through Interlibrary Loan. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Interlibrary Loan page and click Login to My Account. Logging into your account on the Interlibrary Loan page
  2. Enter your NetID and password when prompted.
  3. After logging in, click the Request a Book button. The book request button on the Interlibrary Loan My Account page
  4. Fill out the form with the citation details for the dissertation. Note the name of the university at which the dissertation was written in the Publication Information area. Filling out a request for a dissertation

If Interlibrary Loan cannot find a circulating copy, they will e-mail you and give you the option of ordering through Dissertation Express, a fee-based service that obtains dissertations in 4-5 business days. The library pays for the dissertation, and retains it after you are finished with it. You, in turn, pay the $15 Dissertation Express shipping fee. For more information about this service, see the Interlibrary Loan Office's Dissertation Express FAQ entry.
