USING THE UIUC LIBRARIES

REQUESTING COURSE-INTEGRATED INSTRUCTION

Course-integrated instruction is designed to help students use the library and the web for course-related research. Working in collaboration with the course instructor, reference staff provides assistance in designing library assignments, orientation to specific resources, and customized web pages listing the resources discussed. To request instruction, please contact Merinda Hensley at mhensle1@uiuc.edu, or phone 244-1880.

ORIENTATION AND TOURS

Orientation to the library is provided through self-guided tours. These audio tours of the Main and Undergraduate Libraries are available at the Information Desk, on the second floor of the Main Library, or at the Undergraduate Library Circulation Desk. The CDs and CD players may be charged out by university students, faculty and staff with a University ID. All others who wish to take this tour must leave a driver's license or other form of identification. The self-guided tours are designed for use by individuals. Groups desiring to take taped tours must call (333-2290) at least 24 hours in advance to make arrangements. Groups desiring instruction in the use of the library should contact the Reference Library at 333-2290 for scheduling and planning.

Tours of the library for community or alumni groups may be arranged by calling the Library Friends Office at 217-333-5682.

School groups wishing to tour the library should contact Susan Avery, Coordinator of Instructional Services in the Undergraduate Library, at skavery@uiuc.edu or 217-244-3769.
