- Dissertation Abstracts / Digital Dissertations

- Contains citations and abstracts for doctoral dissertations from American and Canadian universities, with some coverage of European universities. Masters theses have been selectively indexed since 1962. Citations to dissertations are available from 1861 to the present, and abstracts are included from 1980 to the present. For dissertations completed at most major universities since 1997 (and sometimes earlier), you should have the option to download a PDF full-text version of the dissertation--look for the "Free Download" link.

- Index to Theses

- Search a comprehensive list of theses accepted for higher degrees by universities in Great Britain and Ireland since 1716. Includes records for over 490,000 theses, with 44,000 abstracts added in PDF format for the period 1970 to 1986. From 1986 onwards, almost all entries include abstracts.
- CRL Foreign Doctoral Dissertation Database

- The CRL's (Center For Research Libraries) database for dissertations published outside of the United States and Canada is still in the construction phase. At this point, a total of 20,000 of 750,000 records are loaded into the database. Searchable by author, institution name, title, year, translated title, subject keywords, language, and country, the database also provides instructions for interlibrary loan procedure. As UIUC is a member of the CRL, interlibrary loans for the UIUC community are provided free of charge.
- Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations

- Networked Digital Library Theses and Dissertations is a collection of over 200,000 theses and dissertations from around the world. Many items, including those dating back to the early 1900s, are available in full text for free.
- Library of Congress Theses and Dissertations Resources

- The Library of Congress has compiled an annotated list of theses and dissertations databases from around the world. Coverage includes the Theses Canada Portal, where you can search for theses and dissertations in the National Library of Canada.
