Items borrowed through the IRRC office (you’ll see an IRRC streamer on the front cover) are generally non-renewable. Longer loan periods for an IRRC loan must be arranged through the IRRC office.
Lost book fines are assessed by the UIUC Library when an item is 40 days overdue. Other libraries have varying overdue fines, so it is critical that you renew or return items before their due dates.

IRRC Renewals
Lending libraries control loan policies for their institutions. There is no online renewal for IRRC loans, and generally IRRC items cannot be renewed.
Failure to return an IRRC item by the due date may prompt the IRRC to block your account from future borrowing and could also cause the lending library to block loans to other UIUC patrons. Prompt return or request for renewal is critical for all IRRC loans.
Overdue Fines
UIUC Loans:
There are no daily overdue fines for UIUC loans. You have 40 days after the due date to return an item. After 40 days, the item is assumed lost and you are fined $125.00 for books and $300.00 (minimum) for journals plus a $10.00 late fee. NOTE: This applies only to UIUC loans.
ILCSO and IRRC Loans:
Lending libraries assess fines based on their institutional policies, so fines can vary widely. Many institutions assess daily fees for overdue items.
