COLLECTION: Yolande Oglesby collection of Kitty Cheatham documents and other
materials
LOCATION AS OF March, 2002: Theater programs awaiting processing in the
University Press Building Library storage area; a number of items in Special
Collections cataloging backlog cabinets, Music Library upper level; photographs
and a few miscellaneous Cheatham documents in Collections File folder ("Oglesby,
Yolande"); some items may have been added to circulating collection or may not
have been retained.
PROVENANCE: Gift of Yolande Oglesby, Morrisville, Illinois
WHEN ACQUIRED: November - December, 1996
DESCRIPTION: Collection of approximately 550 theater programs (Boston, New York,
Paris [France], Chicago and elsewhere); as well as five items by or relating to
the American professional singer Kitty Cheatham; 10 vocal anthologies, including
children's and school songbooks; 10 choral octavo editions; nine piano
collections or instruction books; nine items of sheet music; and miscellaneous
materials. Kitty Cheatham items consist of two songbooks of which she was the
compiler; a copy of her song, "Spring Greeting," with Cheatham's inscription and
autograph; and two photographs (one autographed).
ARRANGEMENT: Materials largely dispersed or unprocessed at present.
