COLLECTION: Jere C. Mickel collection of theater programs, recordings, and other
music materials
LOCATION AS OF 2001: Theater programs and 78-rpm records incorporated into
holdings stored on the lover level of the University Press Building; individual
LP records and piano music may have been incorporated into the Music Library's
cataloged holdings. Framed photograph of singers hangs in
Music Library seminar room.
PROVENANCE: Private collection of donor.
WHEN ACQUIRED: 1983 and 1985.
DESCRIPTION: Including both donations, the Music Library received over 1,350
78-rpm records, 82 LP discs, 38 libretti, 5 items of piano music, 2 Victor
catalogs, about 500 playbills and concert programs, and a large composite
photograph of Victor Records artists (ca. 1908), "The Great Singers of the
World. "
ARRANGEMENT: Incorporated into existing holdings or awaiting processing.
Programs are arranged by city/name of theater; 78-rpm records are arranged by
accession number (if indexed) or by manufacturer/serial number.
ACCESS/ FINDING AIDS/ BIBLIOGRAPHY: No list exists of individual items.
Correspondence relating to donation is filed in Collections File folder ("Mickel,
Jere C."). Victor catalogs (possibly including items received from Mickel) have
been cataloged as individual items for the Music Library's
Special Collections area.
