COLLECTION: Salvatore Martirano donations
LOCATION AS OF 2001: Music Library circulating collection and Special
Collections area.
PROVENANCE: Personal library of donor.
WHEN ACQUIRED: December 1982 and July 1993.
DESCRIPTION: Total of 140 scores and editions of contemporary music donated in
December 1982; 96 items delivered in July 1993 (including 93 scores, two issues
of the periodical Living Music, and a set of instructions for T.
Ichiyanagi's Music for Electric Metronomes. Many scores are works by
former University of Illinois students and School of Music faculty. "These items
will enrich the holdings in 20th
century composition, including international publications as well as the work of
some of the students who studied here ...It also documents some of the
contemporary music making here at the university." (Letter,

ARRANGEMENT: Items cataloged individually and dispersed throughout the
circulating collection and in Special Collections.
