COLLECTION: Don Malin donation of choral library

LOCATION AS OF 2001: Choral Reference File, Music Library, as well as items cataloged individually. Some materials possibly in University Press Building storage area, but not readily identifiable.

PROVENANCE: Donor's personal collection of choral music and related items.

WHEN ACQUIRED: 1986

DESCRIPTION: Gift consisted of about 2,500 choral reference file items, four nineteenth-century tunebooks, 20 hymnals, 471 vocal scores, 41 books, and nine choral titles (total of 124 separate copies) added to the holdings of the School of Music Choral Collection.

ARRANGEMENT: Choral reference file items arranged by type of ensemble or genre/title. Individually cataloged items dispersed within circulating collection and Special Collections areas.

ACCESS/FINDING AIDS/BIBLIOGRAPHY: Collections File folder ("Don Malin") contains inventory of donation by broad category, copies of correspondence from Music Librarian William McClellan and School of Music director Robert Bays, as well as obituary notice.
