COLLECTION: Dorothy Bowen donation
LOCATION AS OF 2001: Largely at Library's University Press storage area.
PROVENANCE: Personal library of donor, who had been a faculty member of the
School of Music during the 1930s-1970s.
WHEN ACQUIRED: January 1987 (see Gifts File)
DESCRIPTION: Emphasis upon vocal music. Including art songs and opera. Total of
1,588 items, including 516 78-rpm records, 195 LPs, and several tape recordings.
Printed materials include songs, anthologies, methods, and books. Folder in
Collections File ("Bowen, Dorothy") includes clippings relating to her
professional career at the University of Illinois and elsewhere, as well as
concert programs, reviews of her own and her students' performances, and 8"xl0"
photographs of Bowen and of other concert artists (some autographed).
ARRANGEMENT: Published recordings probably integrated into holdings at Oak St.
storage area. Printed materials unprocessed as of 2001. (In labeled
boxes/shelves).
