Reaching Forward South Announcement

The Library Staff Steering Committee is pleased to announce this year's UIUC delegates to the Reaching Forward South Staff Conference:

Manisha Bhagwat, Annette Brandon, Jamie L. Carras, Virginia Clark, Eleanor Hornbacker, Emily Jedlick, Kara Krumdick, Pam Lindell, Linda Morris, Tonia Roundtree-Dandridge, Vara Siraprapasiri, Betty Smith

Bridgette LeSure and Sheila McGowan are Reaching Forward South committee members and will also be attending.  The Conference will be held on Friday, September 20, 2002, at the Northfield Inn in Springfield.

LSSC wishes to express our appreciation to the UIUC Library Administration and the Library Human Resources office's continuing support of UIUC civil service employees attendance/participation at this Conference.

A brown bag lunch will be scheduled, so that RFS attendees will have the opportunity to share their experience with other Library civil service employees.

Executive Committee Meeting Minutes
June 7, 2002

1. Approval of minutes of the May 13 and 28, 2002, meetings.

The minutes were approved.

2. Question time.

The ILCSO Board meets at 10:30 today to consider the go-no go option.

3. Referees for promotion/tenure candidates.

Referees were chosen for the remainder of the candidates.

4. Peer-review committees for newly appointed faculty.

Peer-review committees were selected for newly appointed faculty.

Executive Committee Meeting Minutes
June 24, 2002

Present:  Paula Kaufman(chair), Dick Griscom, Bill Maher, Beth Sandore, Leslie Troutman, Beth Woodard, Greg Youngen

1. Approval of minutes of the June 7, 2002 meeting

Deferred to next meeting.

2. Question time

The Budget group meets next week and will discuss procedures and guidelines for handling positions.

3. Peer-review committee for Joe Zumalt

A committee was suggested.

4. Potential conflict between candidate and paper preparer

The situation was discussed and a new paper preparer will be chosen.

5. Participation of PTA/FRC members as internal promotion-and-tenure references

The two committees should be consistent. FRC will conform to PTA’s recusal practice.

6. Emeritus status for Jim Williams

It was unanimous that the Provost be written a letter of request.

7. Committee appointments for AY2002

Several committee appointments were suggested
