LSSC Meeting MinutesPresent: J. Adamczyk, M. Crook, L. Engels, R. Hough, R. Jahr, S. McFarland, E.
Schroeder,
J. Somera, J. Watkins, G. Witte
I. Minutes of May 8, 2002 meeting were revised and approved.
II. Reports
A. Admin Council (Jane)
--The AULs will review the report from Access Task Force and come back in 90 days with a plan.
--The International Strategy Task Force report was acceptable in principle, but there will be further discussion for minor revisions.
--Graphic Services will no longer be providing service for microfilm printing, so another service arrangement will need to be made. The cost per copy probably will increase in cost to $.25.
B. Faculty Meeting (Renee and Ruby)
--Bart Clark reported on reconfiguration (Acquisitions has moved to the basement) and the Oak Street facility. There is a fire suppression system question from Environmental Health and Safety. Bart is working on it.
--A restructuring of the Collection Development Budget Subcommittee was proposed. After discussion, it was decided to leave it as is until next fall.
C. Reconfiguration Meeting (Jan)
Bart Clark took the Reconfiguration Meeting on a tour of the basement.
III. Updates/Discussions
A. ALA Scholarship
The committee continued to go over guidelines.
B. Staff Lounges
The committee discussed Bart Clark's response to our letter about the Staff Lounges. He cited O&M cutbacks as a concern that work might be delayed.
C. All-Staff Retreat
The retreat will be June 5. This year the format is different.
IV. New Business
A. Stacks Reconfiguration.
G. Witte reviewed upcoming steps. The Newspaper Library is going to be moving into 246 Library (formerly Acquisitions), and sections of decks 5 and 6 of stacks will be walled off and become part of the Newspaper Library. All the microform material that was in stacks will then be part of the Newspaper Library.
B. Reaching Forward South.
Last year the library paid for 16 CSE staff to attend. Advance information has been received. We will start the procedure for choosing staff members for this year.
