LSSC Meeting Minutes
April 10, 2002

Present:  J. Adamczyk, M. Crook, L. Engels, R. Hough, R. Jahr, C. Koppe, S. McFarland,
E. Schroeder, J. Somera, J. Watkins, T. Webb, G. Witte

I.  Minutes of February 27, 2002, meeting were revised and approved.

II.  Reports

A.  Admin Council (Jane)

-- Voyager overview session schedule was announced.

-- Discussion of the importance of communication with staff to reduce stress.

-- Binding shipments not being loaded since the Gap.

-- The Moratorium on supercedes will be revisited in two months.

-- Discussion about selecting for remote storage.

B.  Faculty Meeting (Renee) -- No meeting.

C.  Divisional meetings items

CPS.  Paula Kaufman was a guest.  Paula will turn in a list of zero names for the first round of layoffs.  Extra help hours may be extended.

III.  Updates/Discussions

A.  CSE retreat letter

We received a response from Paula for a CSE retreat.  She requested more information.

B.  ALA scholarship

We reviewed a draft of guidelines prepared to date.  Discussion will continue at the next meeting.

C.  Spring Fling

There was a good turnout and positive responses noted.

D.  Staff Lounges

We began compiling comments for improvements.  Discussion will continue at the next meeting with the final list being forwarded to the AUL for Planning and Budgets.

IV.  New Business

A.  Audits.

We discussed the freeze and what staff need to do to continue to prepare for the audits.

B.  Safety Committee.

We received a report about the Emergency Safety and Security Task Force.  This committee is charged with writing policies and keeping those policies up to date.   With this information, the LSSC will propose the formation of a safety and security advisory group.
