Twelve Vietnamese academic librarians are at the Mortenson Center from May 30-July 21. Their visit is sponsored by Atlantic

Philanthropies.

Report on Fundraising Event for the Korean Collections
 
The fund for the Korean Collections has grown by $19,152.20 thanks to an effective coordinated effort by the local Korean 
community.  The organizing committee met with Paula Kaufman on May 12 to present the Library with funds raised at the April 
"Poem in Silence" photograph exhibit of the works of HongChun Kim. These funds included contributions through personal 
contacts with Korean businesses and the Korean government."
 
Library personnel included in the meeting with Paula Kaufman were Jay Lee, Assistant Engineering Librarian; Karen Wei, head 
of the Asian Studies Library, and JaEun Ku, Visiting Korean Studies Librarian  Those from the community were the Chair of the 
Committee, Keesoo Shon, a Pharmacist/Specialist at Provena Covenant Medical Center; the Director of the Committee, 
Yeonmi You, Ph.D candidate with the Dept of Kinesiology and Community Health; Sukwoo Jang, President of the Korean 
student Association and master’s degree student with the Department of Advertising; Jongsook Kim Kemper, Professor of 
Molecular and Integrative Physiology; and Eun-hee Park, teacher at King School, Urbana School district. 
 
Special thanks go to all of the members of the Library faculty and staff who helped with the event in April.  Thank you for your 
presence at the event and for your contributions.
