Lorado Taft was commissioned by the Class of 1907 to sculpt this bust of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow as a gift to the University of Illinois. The bust was originally designed early in Taft's career. He may have done work on the bust while studying in Paris or possibly while a student at UIUC. The bust is located in the English Library in 321 Library.
