The Research Park at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign provides an environment where technology-based businesses can work with the University's research faculty and students to take advantage of opportunities for collaborative research and easy access to University labs, equipment, and services.
Departmental libraries are open for you to browse and use the reference collections, current journals and/or newspapers as well as circulating collections. However, keep in mind that each departmental library has different hours and regulations, so it is best for any visitor to check with the individual library before visiting. Many of the University of Illinois online research resources, including the article databases and electronic journals, are subscription-based products. Due to licensing restrictions, remote access to these resources is only available to current University students, faculty, and staff. However, as the University is a public institution of higher education, public access computers are available in most departmental libraries for on site use. The University Library--in cooperation with CITES--now offers public wireless connectivity for campus visitors. This service is available in the public areas in most Library facilities. The complete list of public wireless locations on campus is available at the CITES UI Public Wireless website. Public wireless is intended for visitors who have no formal affiliation with the University. Please be aware that licensed resources are not accessible through the public wireless unless you are affiliated with the University. With a wireless-enabled laptop, visitors can connect to the Internet using a web browser and can send and receive email using an off-campus email server. Information on getting started is available on the CITES UI Public Wireless website. Because UI Public Wireless is NOT recommended for campus affiliates, members of the University community should continue to use their active NetID or UI guest account to connect to UIUCnet Wireless,the fully-functional campus wireless network.

In order to borrow books or other materials from our libraries, you must have a Library card from the University of Illinois or an I-Share member library. If you do not already have a card, the Central Circulation has information about obtaining courtesy cards.
For all other visitors, if you need to borrow books from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Library, please contact the interlibrary loan department at your local public or university library. Daytime parking on the University of Illinois campus can be difficult, and it may be more convenient to walk to some destinations. Check out our virtual maps for more details. Between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., visitors may park in metered spaces along streets and in metered spaces in parking lots and facilities indicated in blue on the campus map. All other campus lots are reserved for permit holders only, and your car may be towed if you park in prohibited spaces. University lots are open to visitors after 6 p.m. and on weekends and holidays, subject to posted restrictions. In addition to campus facilities, a municipal lot is located on Green Street between Fifth and Sixth streets. Meters are 75 cents an hour in 20 minute increments.
Please note: Although not marked on the campus parking map, the parking lot to the west of the Main Library Building is a metered parking lot which does not require a parking permit. Meters are typically not enforced in this parking lot after 6 p.m. and on weekends. Please read the parking meter for enforcement policies. This parking lot also has five designated accessible parking spaces.
Visitors may also take advantage of the campus Motorist Assistance Program for help with keys locked in cars, dead batteries, and certain other kinds of minor car problems. Call 244-HELP (244-4357).
