Step One: Getting acquainted

Did you forget the title of a film? Are you trying to find movies by a specific director? Try searching the Internet Movie Database. In addition to the wide variety of audio visual materials in the Undergraduate Library, there are also other audio-visual collections in the library. Or maybe you're looking for video clips online? Truveo Video Search is a great place to start. Are you taking one of the gaming classes offered at the University of Illinois? Here's a guide to help you get started.

Where do I search for videos/games?

Step Two: Online Library Catalog

Search the online library catalog using " Quick Search" to find a movie for which you know the title. Just use the drop-down menu under the search box to "Quick Limit" your search to "Films/Videos." Be sure to note the format, location, and call number. The library has purchased 260 full-length streaming videos, including documentaries and select feature films, that you can watch on your computer (Real Player required). You can also use Library of Congress subject headings to help you find movies that are similar in topic. For the gaming collection, we've put together a handy list of games and consoles.
