Non-Governmental Organizations

  • Council on Foreign Relations - An "Internet portal to Latin American issues and resources."  Includes links to country information, as well as university, organization, and government resources.
  • English.
  • World Bank & IMF Libraries - The external website for World Bank and International Monetary Fund libraries.  Includes library catalogs and publications. English.
  • Organization of American States - An international organization that was developed by various countries to achieve an order of peace and justice, to promote their solidarity, to strengthen their collaboration, and to defend their sovereignty, their territorial integrity, and their independence. Includes news, publications, documents, and audio-visual information. The Organization of American States is a regional agency of the United Nations. Available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French.
  • Serviço Brasileiro de Justiça e Paz (SEJUP) - An organization that "specializes in  preparing news and reports in English about Brazilian human rights and social issues."  The news releases are organized by category, such as women, race questions, and health. English.
  • Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC, or CEPAL in Spanish)  - A regional commission of the United Nations, "founded for the purposes of contributing to the economic development of Latin America, coordinating actions directed towards this end, and reinforcing economic relationships among the countries and with the other nations of the world." Includes press releases, publications, and statistical information. Available in English or Spanish.
  • UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) - An organization with a mission to "contribute to peace and security in the world by promoting collaboration among nations through education, science, culture and communication..." Includes news, publications, audio-visual, documents, and information services. Founded by Member States of the United Nations. Available in English, Spanish, and French.
  • LAB The Latin America Bureau "is an independent research and publishing organization. It works to broaden public understanding of issues of human rights and social and economic justice in Latin America and the Caribbean." English.
