International Affairs

  • Columbia International Affairs Online (CIAO).  This site is "designed to be the most comprehensive source for theory and research in international affairs.  It publishes a wide range of scholarship from 1991 on that includes working papers from university research institutes, occasional papers series from NGO's, foundation-funded research projects, and proceedings from conferences."
  • Inforpress Centroamericana - "Analysis and information about the economic and political events of the region." Abstracts of current articles and special reports available free; in-depth reports, archives, and custom research services are for subscribers only. Available in Spanish and English.
     
  • Inter-American Dialogue - "The premier U.S. center for policy analysis, communication, and exchange on Western Hemisphere affairs." Includes a number of free publications in Adobe PDF format. English.
  • The National Security Archive Located at George Washington University, the Archive is a collection of previously classified political documents, often relating to Latin America. Currently, featured documents contain information Mexico's foreign policy on Cuba.  Older documents discuss Argentina's Guerra Sucia.
  • Organization of American States (OAS/OEA)
    • Draft of the Inter-American Democratic Charter. This charter, drafted in San José, Costa Rica between June 3-5, 2001 must be completed by September 10, 2001. This Web site is meant to encourage the participation of citizens throughout the hemisphere in developing this "affirmation of democratic principles" through comments, suggestions and other types of input. Also viewable in French, Spanish, and Portuguese.
  • Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). A union database of international affairs related article citations compiled by a number of European research institutes. Spain's CIDOB (Barcelona) contributes most of the Latin Americanist content, thus the CIDOB boxes must be checked to maximize search results on Latin America. The Fundación CIDOB also has a searchable database with Latin American content of interest.
