IDEALS
-
- IDEALS is the Illinois Digital Environment for Access to Learning and Scholarship. It is a six-year initiative of the University Library and CITES with funding from the Office of the Provost.
- IDEALS is a set of collections and related services that together constitute the University of Illinois institutional repository. IDEALS aims to complement traditional scholarly publishing. The IDEALS service preserves and provides persistent and reliable access to the digital works of UI faculty, staff, and students to give them the greatest possible recognition. IDEALS has twin goals of access and preservation.
- IDEALS is currently using DSpace, an open source digital repository system developed jointly by MIT and the Hewlett-Packard Company. The University of Illinois Library fully participates in the DSpace open source community.
- Effective October 3, 2007 IDEALS is hosted on CITES servers. CITES offers a controlled environment, staff support, and economies of scale
that are critical for ongoing IDEALS growth and that put IDEALS in an excellent position to meet the audit requirements
for Trustworthy Digital Repository certification.
- Sarah Shreeves is the IDEALS Coordinator. Tim Donohue is the IDEALS Research Programmer.
