Electronic Communication
- The Library and CITES provide several types of electronic communication services for Library personnel.
- CITES Express Email -- CITES creates an email account for each campus employee. The web interface provides convenient access to your account from any computer with a web browser.
- About CITES Express Email -- To choose and set up a preferred email client. Library IT provides configuration instructions and information on how to avoid a know problem.
- Library WebMail (Squirrel Mail) -- Library IT creates group email accounts as needed by Library units, committees, and other groups who want to share a common account with all mail going to all members of the group.
- Email Aliases -- An email alias is an alternate email address that forwards all the email it receives to your regular email account. An email alias can also be set up to redirect email to multiple regular email addresses. Library IT creates email aliases by request.
- Library Forums -- Library groups can request private or open bulletin boards (aka forums) to share news and information among group members.
- Library Listservs -- Library IT maintains Libnews-L which includes all Library personnel and Libfac-L for all Library faculty and APs. Library IT also maintains several other internal listservs to facilitate information sharing among groups of staff who have common work interests.
- Library Blogs -- Library IT has installed a limited license for Movable Type blogging software. A Library-hosted blog can be requested for official use by library groups as a part of their official web site.
- Wikis -- Library IT does not support Wiki software at the present time.
- UIUCnet Wireless -- CITES installs wireless access points in many campus buildings to provide users access to the main UIUCnet network and the Internet. For coverage in a particular area, check the location List.
