Bean Counter
- Bean Counter is an easy-to-use reporting system that is being developed by Library IT for the University Library. Bean Counter can be used to generate reports from multiple Library databases. Initially, these include Voyager, ORR, LibPrint, and the Library's Instructional Statistics database. Additional local databases can be added to the system.
- Bean Counter has a web-based user interface enabling Library personnel to select the reports they want to run and to supply desired options for each report -- for example, a Voyager report listing all the items with withdrawn status that have a shelving location in the Chemistry Library. After submitting a report request to Bean Counter, the user can check on the status of the report and, when it has finished running, choose the desired output format.
- Note that many Voyager reports will take a long time to run (several hours, in some cases) given the huge size of the Voyager database.
- Bean Counter utilizes Bluestem to authorize University Library personnel to use the system.
- Introduction to Bean Counter is a Powerpoint presentation given by Bean Counter Administrators and a good starting point to learn how to use this tool.
