GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES

The Illinois Researcher Information Service (IRIS) is a unit of the University of Illinois Library at Urbana-Champaign.  IRIS offers the following services:

  1. The IRIS Database of federal and private funding opportunities in the sciences, social sciences, arts, and humanities.  The IRIS Database is  available via the World-Wide-Web (WWW).

  2. The IRIS Alert Service.  The IRIS Alert Service is a WWW-based funding-alert service for faculty, staff, and students at institutions that subscribe to IRIS.

  3. The IRIS Expertise Service.  The IRIS Expertise Service enables faculty members and researchers at institutions that subscribe to IRIS to create detailed electronic CVs and post them to the Web for viewing by colleagues at other institutions, program officers at federal and private funding agencies, and private companies.

These services are available on a subscription basis to colleges, universities, and selected other non-profit institution for a yearly fee. Subscriptions provide institution-wide access to the IRIS Database, the IRIS Alert Service, and the IRIS Expertise Service.

SUBSCRIPTION PERIOD

The term of this Agreement is from July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009. Partial-year subscriptions will be prorated using the annual subscription price for that institution.

COSTS

IRIS has a three-tier pricing structure, based on institution size (the combined number of faculty and students).

The cost of this agreement will be billed by the University.  Any modifications of these charges must be separately negotiated.  This Agreement is valid only for subscriptions of less than $5,000.00.

TERMINATION

This Agreement may be terminated by either party, for convenience, upon thirty (30) days written notice.  In the event the University terminates this Agreement, the University shall refund to the Subscriber that portion of the annual service fee applicable to the number of full months remaining in the University's fiscal year as of the date of termination. In the event Subscriber terminates this Agreement, no refund of any payments to the University shall be made to Subscriber.

OWNERSHIP, NONDISCLOSURE, AND CONFIDENTIALITY

IRIS and its components are proprietary property of the University.  Access to IRIS is intended for the exclusive use of Subscriber's personnel at the location(s) specified below.  Subscriber agrees to take reasonable precautions to prevent unauthorized access to IRIS. Subscriber further agrees that data obtained will not be published or reproduced except for internal uses, not will it be loaded into any online retrieval system that is accessible to non-subscribing institutions or that is based outside of the subscribing institution.  Any misuse of IRIS data will constitute a material breach of this Agreement and will give the University the right to suspend subscriber's access to IRIS and pursue all available legal and equitable remedies.
