Creating an IRIS Alert Service profile is a two-step process:
Step 1. Register.
This is where you assign yourself a login ID and password. Please
jot down your login ID and password and keep them someplace safe but
handy, for future reference. You will need your login and password
to edit or delete your alert service profile.
IF YOU HAVE ALREADY REGISTERED FOR THE IRIS EXPERTISE
SERVICE, there is no need to register separately for the alert
service. You can use your current login ID and password and move directly
to...
Step 2. Fill out the IRIS
Alert Service Form. The form consists of two parts: basic information
and your IRIS search criteria. Please enter your basic information
carefully (especially your e-mail address) and make sure that it is
correct before submitting it. Providing accurate information will
make it easier for us and your campus research officer to help you
if there is a problem.
You can select how often you would like your alert
profile run (daily, weekly, monthly) and how you would like the results
delivered to you. You have two choices for delivery method: by e-mail,
or posted to a Web page that we will set up for you here at the University
of Illinois. We suggest that you have your search results posted to
the Web page. Viewing your search results on the Web is generally
easier than wading through a long e-mail message. Also, it will eliminate
the possibility of overloading your e-mail account.
Finally, you need to create a search statement for
your IRIS Alert Service profile to use. For instructions on how to
do this, see "How
To Fill Out the IRIS Alert Service Form".
When you have finished filling out the form, click
on the "Save Your Profile" button at the bottom of the form. You may
have to use the scrollbar to reach this button.
