  • A guide to Jewish prayer / Adin Steinsaltz.

    • A highly readable book, clearly explaining the traditions and regulations of prayer.  Discusses individual versus communal prayer, the role of the rabbi and the cantor, the cycles of synagogue ritual, etc.  History, 296.45 Ev23s:E

  • The Jewish holidays : a guide and commentary / by Michael Strassfeld

    • Explains of most of the Jewish Holidays in terms of meaning and observance.  Historical, readable, helpful.  History or Reference, 296.43 St81j

  • Judaism in practice : from the Middle Ages through the early modern period / Lawrence Fine, editor. 

    • Introduces the enormous variety of practices that characterized Judaism in the twelve hundred years between 600 and 1800 C.E. Its focus on religious practice and experience--how Judaism was actually lived by people from day to day.  History, 296.0902 J88
