| There are many routes to finding reviews on a particular book in history or philosophy, and everyone develops her or his own repertoire of successful strategies. Unfortunately, the major periodical index for philosophy, Philosopher’s Index, does not include book reviews, and although the major indexes in history, America: History and Life and Historical Abstracts, do include book reviews, their coverage is limited to relatively mainstream history journals. |

Periodical Contents Index, a very extensive retrospective index with strong coverage of West European periodicals, provides indexing to articles and book reviews for more than 3,500 journals from their inception to 1995.
