Circulating Collections

The History, Philosophy, and Newspaper Library maintains a circulating collection to support instruction in the Departments of History, Philosophy, and the Program for the Study of Religion. With over 10 million volumes, the UIUC Library is the third largest academic library in the country (after Harvard and Yale), and our collections in history and philosophy are among our richest.

New and frequently used materials are located in the History, Philosophy, and Newspaper Library (246 Main Library). There are also numerous collections of materials in history, philosophy, and religion located in other departmental libraries, and of course the bulk of our collections in these disciplines is located in the main bookstacks.
