A series of How do I... workshops are available to introduce you to both the library and specific resources and to help you learn how to locate specific kinds of information.

General information about the workshops:

• All workshops take place in Room 289 (the CITES computer lab) in the Undergraduate Library.
• There is no charge for these workshops.
• You make take as many as you feel will be helpful to you as you begin or continue your research at UIUC.
• Unless otherwise noted, each workshop will be completed in 50 minutes.

Workshop specifics: How do I...

• Start my research - Just the basics.
  Do you sometimes feel clueless as you begin your research? This workshop will provide a basic overview of the library for beginning your research. More information and registration.
  
  
• Use the Online Catalog - The basics of finding books and more.
  Looking for a particular book? Do one of the UIUC libraries have it? What else is there about my topic? Learn how to answer these questions and more. More information and registration.
  
  
• Find articles - Getting started using article databases.
  With over 100 databases to choose from, how do you know you are in the best place to find articles about your topic? Learn the basics of database searching. More information and registration.
  
  
• Untangle the web - Searching for and evaluating Internet sources.
  When you use the web do you find what you are looking for in an efficient manner? Are your professors pleased with the web sources you choose? Untangle the web as we answer these questions and more. More information and registration.
  
  
• Find facts and figures on the web using government resources.
  Can you find current print and Web-based government information? Learn about government documents and political literacy from the experts! More information and registration.
  
  
• Find dissertations for research.
  Do you need to find dissertations done at UIUC or those completed nationally or internationally? Find out how to search for and locate dissertations. More information and registration.

• If you would like to receive credit for attending this workshop for a class, you will receive certification of your attendance at the conclusion of the workshop. It is your responsibility to give this to your instructor or professor.
