  • The USGS has been digitizing older publications and making them available on the web. They have completed 41,497 of the total 71,016 documents. They hope to have the project completed in approximately 3 years. You can connect to the full text documents several ways, but I find this to be the best way if you know the specific series: <http://infotrek.er.usgs.gov/pls/htmldb/f?p=127:5:653563621926001>. (You can also get there by going to the USGS Warehouse page http://infotrek.er.usgs.gov/pubs/ and clicking on the Contents tab at the top). This list is updated daily. From this page you can see the citations for everything in the series, and also connect to those that are available in full text. I have added this link on the Geology Library page <http://www.library.uiuc.edu/gex/GexFind.html>, on the left under "Find Books and More": USGS Contents. (4/17/07)

  • The Office of Web Services in the campus Public Affairs unit has announced the first version of a UIUC website designed specifically for mobile users. Among the services it offers is a link to the Library's online catalog. It's also possible to access the Library Gateway via the "Campus Units (a-z)" link. Users who connect to the main UIUC web site (www.uiuc.edu) with a Treo, BlackBerry, Pocket PC, or smart cell phone will be automatically redirected to the campus mobile web site. You can preview the mobile web site from any computer by going to: www.uiuc2go.com Office of Web Services personnel plan to refine and enhance this new service in the coming months. (6/15/06)

  • Have your tried "Journal Finder"? Created by Grainger Engineering Library, this resource helps you locate both electronic and print journals at UIUC, and links to the electronic version, if available. Also, try "Full text finder", which locates and links to the full-text of an electronic journal article if the full reference is known.

  • Have you tried IRIS (Illinois Research Information Service), a grant-finder?

  • We have a trial to Scopus, the new Elsevier A&I product until July 31, 2005.
