$300 for the Modern Languages and Linguistics Library to purchase the initial volume of Marcel Proust's manuscript notebooks of In Search of Lost Time. Each volume includes a complete color facsimile of the notebook, a fully annotated transcription, and several indices to situate the featured notebook within the context of the entire work.
$390 for the Undergraduate Library to purchase "Waste = Food." This film on DVD explores the theory of ecologically intelligent design through interviews with its leading proponents, American architect and designer William McDonough and German ecological chemist Michael Braungart. It explores their "intelligent product system," which utilizes completely nontoxic and sustainable production methods.
$425 for the Reference Library to purchase Encyclopedia of Science, Technology, and Ethics . This four-volume set provides extensive information on the professional ethics of science and technology in an increasingly global society. It is a timely resource, recognized as one of the "Best of Reference 2006" by the New York Public Library.
$895 for the Library and Information Science Library to purchase Resources for College Libraries . This seven-volume set identifies a core collection of the best titles in 58 curriculum areas and replaces the 1988 classic, Books for College Libraries.
$1,200 for the Education and Social Science Library to purchase the second edition of Encyclopedia of Language and Education . This newly revised ten-volume set provides insights into international aspects of language teaching and learning. The information will benefit language educators and linguists as well as teachers and students of English as an international language.
$1,249 for the Education and Social Science Library to purchase Handbook of Paleoanthropology . This handbook brings together contributions by the world's leading specialists, providing an indispensable resource for professionals and students alike. It includes Principles, Methods and Approaches (Vol. 1), Primate Evolution and Human Origins (Vol. 2), and Phylogeny of Hominids (Vol. 3).
$1,500 for the Latin American and Caribbean Library to purchase El chileno instruido en la historia topográfica, civil y politica de su pais . This two-volume set by Jose Javier Guzman (1759-1840) published in 1834 represents the first substantial topographical and political history of the recently-established Republic of Chile. It includes a folding plan of the capital city, Santiago de Chile.
