Statistics of Democide: Genocide and Mass Murder since 1900. 1998.

This work gives the estimates, sources, and calculations for the case studies detailed in the author's previous work, Death by Government. In the present volume, Rummell undertakes a quantitative analysis of 141 state regimes that have practiced democide (systematic killing of one's own citizens). The data is arranged first with a chapter on pre-20th century democide, a section on the twelve top contemporary 'megamurderers', and a section on the contemporary United States and other 'lesser murderers'. In the next section, the author uses the comparative statistical data to test his assumption about the inverse relation (or negative correlation) between democide and democracy. There is a list of figures and democide tables given after the table of contents. In addition, there is a very extensive list of references, which include all sources consulted in the construction of the democide tables.

Part two presents detailed profiles of all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The profiles are presented in graphical and statistical formats. The final part of the book is technical notes and a list of the state agencies that were contacted for information. Located at the back of the book there is an author and subject index.
