Downloadable Reserve Submission Forms:
SUITABLE MATERIAL: Please limit reserve requests to required readings, since our experience has shown that suggested readings have a very low use rate.
MATERIAL FROM OTHER INSTITUTIONS: Only materials from UIUC libraries can be placed on reserve. Materials belonging to other institutions cannot be placed on reserve, even when they are charged to an individual instructor.
ORDERING POLICIES: Requested items not owned by the Library can generally be ordered. It usually takes at least 8 weeks to receive such orders. Please allow 8 to 12 weeks from the time of the request before making reserve assignments. Notification will be sent to the instructor when an item is ordered.
PERSONAL COPIES: Personal copies of books loaned for reserves will be available on "Closed Reserve" for 2 hour use within the library and may be claimed at the end of the semester. Please note that personal copies may be damaged due to use throughout the course of the semester. The Education and Social Science Library is not liable for any such damage.

GENERAL RESERVE POLICIES
NUMBER OF COPIES PLACED ON RESERVE: In general, one copy of an item is placed on reserve. Additional copies of books will be added as necessary.
PHOTOCOPIED MATERIAL: Photocopied items such as journal articles, book chapters, exams, problems sets & answers, or class notes will be scanned into the computer and available through electronic reserves. Material for e-reserves should be taken directly to the Media and Reserve Center at the Undergraduate Library. If an article is already available online with a stable URL (e.g., the library has a subscription for the online form of the journal) a direct link will be made to that article rather than scanning the article into the computer. Access to these direct links will be identical to access to scanned copies. Instructions on obtaining reserves can be found on the Reserve Information for Students page. One copy will also be available in print for those patrons who do not wish to use the electronic reserves. See below for more information on our policies for electronic and print photocopied reserves.
LOAN PERIODS: Books are typically assigned loan periods of two hours, 24 hours or three days. Print photocopied materials all have a two hour loan period. Closed Reserves (personal copies kept behind the circulation desk) can only be used within the library and have a two hour loan period.
REMOVING RESERVE MATERIALS: Once materials are put on reserve, they are not allowed to be taken off until the semester ends, or the instructor notifies the Reserve staff to cancel the reserve materials.
