You can take the tutorial lesson by lesson, or you can choose your topics to meet your needs. A tutorial index will be linked on each page to help you easily navigate the help screens.

The tutorial should take you approximately 30 minutes to complete.

One way to take the tutorial is to read the explanations and view the screen shots. But to get hands-on practice using the system, you should follow along by opening a new browser window and linking to AccessUN.

This tutorial covers the topics listed below, and does not attempt to cover every possible seach option. Instead, it introduces basic searches and idiosyncrasies of the database. PLEASE NOTE THESE IMPORTANT ACCESS RESTRICTIONS: Due to the licensing restrictions of the this database, AccessUN is not available to you from a home computer, even if you are dialing into a UIUC server. You can only take the tutorial with a live link to AccessUN if you are working in a University of Illinois Library, or at a University of Illinois computing center.
