Government Information Online

Government Information Online (GIO) is a free national online information service supported by nearly thirty public, academic, and state libraries throughout the United States. Participating librarians specialize in finding government information sources of all kinds, and will try to answer your questions through chat or email. All the participating institutions are official depository libraries who participate in the U.S. Government Printing Office's Federal Depository Library program, and many are also official depository libraries for their respective state or local governments.

The project's purpose is demonstrate that government information is a core library service that can take advantage of the World Wide Web to deliver reliable knowledge about how government works and serves its citizens. While we are glad to assist in any way we can, you might be communicating with a librarian who does not work at your local library and/or does not have access to your personal library card records. For further information about the project and its future goals, please link to the project's website at www.govtinfo.org.

You can view a list of the participating libraries here.
