Yick Wo v. Hopkins (1886)  ::  This page abstracts the court case between a Chinese laundry owner and an injunction placed against his business.  The ruling found that a law's application could be discriminatory and therefore, illegal.  This set a precedent for the civil rights movement.  An excerpt of the judge's ruling is also included.
