This is a listing of a few recommended websites to begin your search on the World Wide Web for statistical data. Other resources (both print and WWW) appear on the Core Lists (links by category are made below) and Extended Lists from the Econ173 Homepage.

U of Michigan Documents Center, Statistical Resources on the Web
This is a subject arranged website that points you to primary statistical data.

- Social Science Data Extractors: This page describes a selection of web sites that allow the user to quickly extract social science data. Either raw data, summary data, or both can be extracted. Various downloading options (data format, type of Internet access protocol, supporting documentation, etc.) are supported by various systems. Extraction systems can be interactive web sites, software systems that must be downloaded to the PC and installed there, or both. In some cases, interactive graphing and mapping are available as well. Some sites allow downloading of full data sets that underlay the extraction system.
- Social Science Data Archives: This page describes a selection social science data archives. Each one carries a variety of social science data sets. Archives have various policies with regard to cost of data, availability of data and ancillary information, and restrictions (if any) on the use of data.
- Larry Schankman's Library Guides Series: Statistical Resources
  This annotated bibliography provides links to many sources for United States; international; state, county and local; labor, employment and income; social and transportation statistics.
- FEDSTATS
  FEDSTATS takes advantage of Internet technology to navigate publicly available statistics from more than 70 Federal agencies. Users can find the authoritative information they need without knowing in advance which agency, or agencies, produce the data. Information can be searched through: an A to Z index with 275 categories, and a keyword search capability that searches agency web sites linked to FEDSTATS.
- Frequently Used Sites Related to U.S. Federal Government Information
  Prepared by the Federal Documents Task Force (FDTF) of the Government Documents Round Table (GODORT), within the American Library Association (ALA), this site compiles frequently-used government websites in 20 broad categories, including Statistics.
- Meta-Subject Index to Government Information
  This site, maintained at Idaho State University, contains links (in alphabetical order, by subject) to nearly 8,000 government information sites.
- Statistical Abstract of the United States
  Standard summary of recent statistics on the social, political and economic organization of the U.S. Data given is primarily on the NATIONAL level, but some tables include CROSS-SECTIONAL data, e.g., information on states. Use also an as indexing tool to locate more detailed data and /or TIME SERIES data.
- Illinois State, County and Local Statistical Information in Print and Online
- Champaign-Urbana Area Information on the Internet
  These two Document Library websites offer links to online statistical information for the state of Illinois, counties and metropolitan areas in Illinois, Champaign County and local communities.

- STAT-USA/Internet site
  This website is available through the Internet and is password protected. Access this resource from the Government Documents Library Workstations.
- Resources for Economists on the Internet by Bill Goffe
  This guide lists the many resources on the Internet of interest to academic and practicing economists, and those interested in economics.
- MISER
  U.S. foreign trade -- export data by State.
- FRED, historical database of economic and financial data
  Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis' FRED contains historical U.S. economic and financial data, including daily U.S. interest rates, monetary and business indicators, exchange rates, and regional economic data for Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee.

- The Geospatial and Statistical (Geostat) Data Center
  This University of Virginia site was formed with the merger of the Social Sciences Data and Geographic Information Centers. The site contains an extensive collections of numeric and geospatial data files. Includes the United States Historical Census Data Browser.
- Government Information Sharing Project
  Oregon State University site which contains demographic, economic and social databases.
