New Online Resources in Landscape Architecture

 

(APGA) American Public Gardens Association  http://www.publicgardens.org/  

Founded in 1940 as the American Association of Botanical Gardens and Arboreta (AABGA), the American Public Gardens Association (APGA) adopted a new name in 2006. The APGA is recognized as a premiere association for public gardens in North America. APGA's 500 member institutions are located in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Canada and seven other countries.  AGPA works to provide professional development to gardening professionals through networking, public awareness, information sharing and research. 

(CSLA) Canadian Society of Landscape Architects http://www.csla.ca/        

The Canadian Society of Landscape Architects was founded in 1934 and currently has more than 1,300 members across Canada.  CSLA is considered the premiere organization for Landscape Architects in Canada.  CSLA works toward providing several valuable services to its members including: Providing Opportunities for Professional Development; Supporting Member Achievements; and funding of professional landscape architecture projects.    

 

(CLARB) The Council of Landscape Architecture Registration Boards http://www.clarb.org/  CLARB is a non-profit organization that depends on its professional volunteers. "CLARB's members work together to establish standards for education, experience and examination required for the professional licensure of landscape architects."  CLARB "also helps current and future practitioners understand, obtain and maintain the knowledge, skills and abilities required to practice the profession safely."  CLARB administers and scores the Landscape Architect Registration Examination (L.A.R.E.). The results of this examination resolve whether applicants for landscape architectural licensure are able to provide landscape architectural services without endangering the health, safety and welfare of the public."

 

(EDRA) Environmental Design Research Association  http://www.edra.org/ 

The Environmental Design Research Association (EDRA) was founded in 1968 to advance environmental design research through dissemination, thereby improving understanding of the interrelationships between people, and their surroundings, and by creating environments responsive to human needs. Discounted student and professional memberships are available.

 

European Foundation for Landscape Architecture http://www.efla.org/ 

EFLA is the primary organization for landscape architecture in Europe.  EFLA aims to promote landscape architecture throughout Europe, to represent Landscape Architecture to the European Union and affiliated organizations, to promote the profession of landscape architecture, and to maintain high standards in professional work and education.  Downloadable publications are available going back to 2003.
