The City Planning and Landscape Architecture Library will close on May 9th.

May 7th, 2008

The City Planning and Landscape Architecture Library will close its doors at 203 Mumford Hall for the last time on Friday, May 9th.  The library has existed in its present location for more than 80 years.  Beginning later this summer, the City Planning and Landscape Architecture Library will merge with the Funk/ACES Library located at located at 1101 South Goodwin.

Besides residing in a much larger, newer facility opened in 2001, faculty and students will enjoy access to several things not available in the Mumford space, including: access to large interdisciplinary collections related to agriculture and natural resources; much longer operating hours, including evenings and both weekend days; access to 6 group study rooms with seating for 8-10 people; access to both wireless and wired network computing for laptops; access to 39 public access computers, 2 printers, and 3 photocopiers. Material requests will no longer be taken for CPLA, please use UIUC ACES CIRC DESK for future material.  Another development to look for over the summer, we will begin to build a more robust Web presence built around the emerging Library content management system.  The collections presently housed in our library will be moved to Funk/ACES library during May and June.  We anticipate having all new books and unbound serials available for general use by the beginning of June.  We plan to have remaining services and collections up and running by the beginning of July.

The City Planning Library would like to thank all the students, faculty, staff, and community members who have used and supported the library in the past.  We look forward to the opportunities that will come with serving you at the ACES library.  Please contact the library by email at jedlick@uiuc.edu  if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Joe Zumalt      –  Interim Head of the City Planning and Landscape Architecture Library

Emily Jedlick   –  Senior Library Specialist

Joshua Becker  –  Graduate Assistant
