The Communications Library newspaper collection includes 27 titles.  Many are big-city dailies, others are newspapers from within the state of Illinois.  The Library keeps only current issues of its newspapers.  In the case of daily papers, up to 2 full weeks of back issues are kept; for weeklies, up to 2 months. Papers are then transferred to the Newspaper Library, given to faculty members, or discarded.

The Newspaper Library receives many of the above newspapers as well as hundreds of other titles either in print or on microfilm. They subscribe to a number of college or university papers, big city dailies, alternative newspapers, and foreign newspapers. 

The Modern Languages Library receives numerous foreign language newspapers.
