The Communications Library supports the instructional and research programs of the UIUC College of Communications, including the Department of Advertising, the Department of Journalism, and the Institute of Communications Research.  Its collections contain over 16,000 volumes of books, journals, newspapers, as well as materials in other formats, on advertising, journalism, media studies, radio and television broadcasting, telecommunications, popular culture, polling and public opinion.  Its collection is augmented by thousands of volumes on these topics in the Main Library Bookstacks as well as related materials in other departmental libraries. 

The Communications Library’s collections include the D’Arcy and Woodward collections of historical advertisements, the Stanley F. Cohen Collection of clippings and documents related to his tenure as Washington editor of Advertising Age and the Fund for Investigative Journalism Collection.

Other especially relevant UIUC departmental libraries include the Commerce Library (for marketing, industry, and company information), the Education & Social Science Library (for speech communication, cultural studies, etc), the English Library (for cinema studies), the University Archives (for the James “Scotty” Reston Collection, Ad Council Archives, as well as other related collections) and Grainger Engineering Library (communications technology).  See also: UIUC Library Homepage
