The Third Annual BOOK MARKET @ THE SQUARE, brings together local libraries, book vendors, and authors to celebrate books, reading and literacy. The Annual Book Market @ The Square looks to capitalizes on the success of last years Book Market that saw a crowd of over 2000 people. This August 26th the Lincoln Trail Libraries System, The Urbana Free Public Library, The University of Illinois Library, Parkland College Library, and Champaign Public Library are hosting this popular book market again so come and join us for another day of fun filled excitement.

This event invites libraries, book vendors, and authors throughout Champaign County and East Central Illinois to sell books, display information, and reach out to the public. The BOOK MARKET @ THE SQUARE will feature local writers, children’s activities, and much much more! This event and all of the programs are free to the community. The BOOK MARKET @ THE SQUARE is taking place August 26, 2006 (the same weekend as the 31th Annual Sweetcorn Festival) in Downtown Urbana at the Lincoln Square mall. The Sweetcorn Festival is Champaign County 's oldest and largest festival, it is a two day event that offers live music, food, and many activities.

In addition to the celebration of books, the event will offer fundraising activities to support literacy. Bingo will be offered, which encourages members of the community to participate. There will be prizes donated by local business for prizes. All proceeds collected will be donated to The Reading Group, a non-profit reading clinic located in Urbana.
