The finance department prepares students for a variety of careers, offering specializations in banking/capital markets, corporate finance, insurance/risk management, investments/asset management/financial engineering, and real estate/urban land economics. In the 2006 rankings of U.S. News and World Report, the undergrad finance program was ranked #13, while the graduate program was #24.
Students have the unique opportunity to enhance their learning experience by participating in the Bloomberg certification program. Certification may give students a competitive advantage when entering the workplace. The finance department has also partnered with Illinois Business Consulting to offer a practicum program, which gives students real-world experience.
