Introduction
This tutorial will start with the following research question and then go through the steps of answering this question using the SDC Platinum Database. The research question is: how many joint ventures and alliances occured between 1998 and July 2002 in the prepackaged software industry.
Note: This database is limited to current UIUC students, faculty, and staff. You must use this source from the UIUC Business & Economics Library computer lab. Only one user can use this database between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm. More than one user is allowed during nights and weekend. This resource goes from 1979 to the last thirty days for Domestic Mergers, 1985 to the last thirty days for International Mergers, and 1988 to the last thirty days for Joint Ventures/Alliances. Also, the program has an activity time-out of 20 minutes.
