This web page has been created
for students in the University of Illinois College of Commerce & Business
Administration. It contains print and electronic resources in the Commerce
Library and through the Internet. Internet access to subscription databases
outside of the UIUC network requires you to log in with your NetID
and password. Commerce Library/OIM Biznet databases are only available
within the Commerce Library or Office for Information Management Labs
in the College of Commerce.
Call numbers and locations for the print resources are located at the
end of each annotation.
The Commerce Library Staff can assist you with getting started with these
and other resources. If there are pieces of information the staff are
unable to help you locate, please e-mail the Commerce Library at commerce@library.uiuc.edu
for an appointment.

- Million Dollar Directory (sample page: Nike)
- Provides directory-type information for over 160,000 public and private
corporations with a net worth of $500,000 or more. Listings are arranged
alphabetically by company name, geographically, and by SIC code (product
or industry).

- Ward's Business Directory of US Private and Public Companies
(sample page: Domino's Pizza)
- Directory of public and private companies. Arranged alphabetically
by company name and includes address, phone, financials figures, company
type, year founded, number of employees, import/export status, and description
of products or services. Other volumes are arranged geographically and
ranked by sales within an SIC code.

- Mergent Manuals (sample page: Nike)
- Covers U.S., Canadian, and other foreign companies listed on U.S.
stock exchanges. Includes a brief company history, subsidiaries, officers/directors,
and balance sheet statistics.

- Comprehensive profiles of the world's top 500 companies. Includes
directors, shareholders, subsidiaries, 5 year financial performance,
and products.

- U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
- Corporate filings back to 1993 are available from the Edgar database
at www.sec.gov.

Disclosure Global Access
- Provides scanned images of annual reports back to 1997, documents
from the SEC (10-K, 10-Q, and proxy), and filings on foreign corporations
via WorldScope.

Lexis-Nexis Academic Universe
- Full text and abstracts of articles from newspapers, magazines, journals,
wire services, trade journals, etc. Includes company news, SEC filings,
and news on over 25 industries.
- Standard & Poor's Stock Reports (sample pages:
Nike: 1, 2)
- Coverage in these quarterly volumes includes recent stock prices and
range, P/E ratio, dividend yield, S&P ranking, and income and balance
sheet data for 10 years. Also included is a description of each company's
major product line, market organization, and recent developments.

- Value Line Investment Survey (sample page: Nike)
- Provides in-depth coverage of 1,700 stocks grouped by 90 industries.
Gives the Value Line rating, recent price, EPS, dividends, description
of business, 15 years worth of financial data, an analysis of stock
performance and a buy/sell recommendation.

- OneSource
- An excellent one-stop place for company and market information. For
companies, it has detailed descriptions, current financial data and
news stories. For industries, it has market research reports and other
articles. Available to UIUC affiliates only and you must register for
a free account.

ABI/Inform
- Provides bibliographic citations and abstracts of principal business
and management articles from over 800 journals. It contains information
on companies and products, business strategies, case studies, and management
tools and trends. Many articles are full-text.

Business and Industry
- Provides abstracts and some full text from U.S. and international
business, marketing, and advertising trade journals, as well as general
business publications, newspapers, and newsletters.
Also available with alternate interface on Biznet (Commerce Library
or OIM Lab)

- Offers full-text coverage of 500 regional and local business journals,
newspapers, and newswires. Contains in-depth company, industry, product
and executive news, covering both private and public companies.

Wall Street Journal
- Full-text coverage of the Wall Street Journal is from 1986 to present.
- Ward's Private Company Profiles (sample pages: Domino's

- Provides a description for 150 privately held U.S. companies and excerpts
from articles, newspapers, business journals, and trade and professional
journals. Bibliographies are included.

- "Who owns whom", the family tree of every major public or
private corporation in the US. It is designed to give an in-depth view
of major US corporations and their divisions, subsidiaries, and affiliations.
The alphabetical index cross-references subsidiaries, etc. to their
parent companies.
