ONLINE CATALOG DOWNTIME IN JUNE

The UIUC Online Catalog will be temporarily disabled for approximately two weeks in June while the system is upgraded. This downtime will not affect other online Library services such as electronic databases, indexes, and journals. Two key dates will mark the beginning of the upgrade:

Effective June 6, users will be unable to place requests for materials from other I-Share libraries via the online catalog. UIUC users will still be able to place requests via the online catalog for materials owned locally until June 14. Local and I-Share requesting will be available again once the system is restored.

Beginning June 14 at 5:00 p.m., the Online Catalog will be "static" and result in the following effects:

Users will be unable to charge or renew materials via the Online Catalog, but they still will be able to accomplish these tasks in person at a Library service desk.

No new records will be added to the UIUC Online Catalog or the statewide I-Share Catalog. The information in both catalogs will be correct as of 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14.

The circulation status of Library materials will not necessarily be up-to-date in the Online Catalog.

Materials returned to the Library after June 14 will not be discharged from users’ accounts until the system is reactivated later in the month; however, materials also will not come due during the downtime. Library materials cannot be recalled until the system is restored, and no overdue or pickup notices will be sent.  While users will be able to access "My Account," the "MyAccount" button on the WebVoyage toolbar will lead to a page warning them that the information in the account display is not current.

The Library estimates that the downtime will last a maximum of two weeks.  The Library regrets any temporary inconvenience the upgrade may cause its users.  The staff of the Library's Telephone Center (333-8400) will be available to assist users with any questions or problems.

Please note that access to access electronic reserve materials will still be available during the online catalog downtime by using our direct link to that system. The link Electronic Course Reserves can be found on the gateway page under Library Services for easy access. Links within the catalog itself will not be updated until after we are up and running with the new version of the system. Book reserves not processed before June 14th will not be visible in the static online catalog, so please check directly with individual libraries for materials processed after that date.
