Sabbatical Leave Requests for 2008-2009
Information and forms for members of the Library faculty who wish to apply for sabbatical
leave for 2008-2009 are now available on the Web, as follows:

application period (as of 7 September 2007). Please review the Communication for information and
guidelines, but refer to the Office of the Vice-President for Academic Affairs'

- Librarians should discuss their sabbatical leave plans with their Division Coordinator
as soon as possible.
- Applications and the Statement of Plans are reviewed by the Division Advisory Committee by
Friday, October 19, 2007.
- The Division Coordinator prepares an evaluative statement based on the comments and
recommendations of the Division Advisory Committee.
- The Division Coordinator makes an appointment to discuss the applications with the Associate
University Librarian for Services. The Coordinator should be prepared to discuss suggestions for
addressing staffing during the absence of the faculty member, including alternatives suggested by
the Division Advisory Committee. The Division Coordinator will also prepare text for insertion into
the application. These appointments should take place no later than
Wednesday, October 31, 2007. Final applications are also due to the Associate
University Librarian for Services on this day.
- The Associate University Librarian for Services reviews the applications with the University
Librarian.
- Completed Sabbatical Leave Applications are due in the Office of Academic Human Resources on
Monday, December 3, 2007.
- Applicants will be notified of the status of their applications by the Secretary of the Board
of Trustees in
mid-March 2008.
